THINK of the phrase ‘born with a silver spoon in one’s mouth’ and you’re on the right line when it comes to Channel 4’s new series Born Famous, which continues with episode two TONIGHT.
Four offspring of some of the UK’s most successful stars will swap their swanky lifestyles for an alternate reality. Here’s all you need to know about the four-part series.
When does Born Famous start on Channel 4?
The first episode of the series aired on August 5, 2019 on Channel 4 at 10pm.
The four-part series follows four celebrity children as they live the life they would have had if their parents hadn’t found fame and success.
Each kid will spend a week living and paired up with a teenager from the community where their famous parent came from.
In the first episode celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay’s son Jack goes out of his comfort zone to Brench Hill estate in Banbury, Oxfordshire.
There he’ll get a taste of what like could have been like had dad Gordon not become a world-renowned chef worth around £182 million.
Which celebrity offspring are in the line-up?
The four privileged children of the famous faces are:
Jack Ramsay – the son of TV chef Gordon Ramsay
He’s Gordon Ramsay’s son, who you’ve probably seen on TV before as this wouldn’t be his first time starring in a television show.
Jack has previously appeared on MasterChef, alongside his father, as a guest judge of the mystery box challenge.
He is also known to be good friends with David Beckham’s son Brooklyn.
Phoenix is the daughter of Spice Girls star Mel B.
Again, the leggy beauty is no stranger to the world of reality TV, having previously starred in her mother’s show, It’s A Scary World.
As her mother plans for yet another tour with her girl group in 2020, it looks as if Phoenix is trying to make a name for herself away from her mother’s fame and success.
Bethany is the daughter of Ultimo boss Michelle Mone.
Just by looking at the 19-year-old’s Instagram, it’s not hard to tell that this beauty lives an extravagant lifestyle.
Bethany is a rising social media influencer living in Glasgow, and she’s very much into all things concerning music and makeup.
Ria is Paul Ince’s 18-year-old daughter from Cheshire.
While it’s unclear whether Ria has an occupation of her own, she’s certainly not shy when it comes to flashing her designer outfits on Instagram.
And if her dad being Paul Ince isn’t impressive enough, she’s also cousins with The Saturdays star Rochelle Humes, living a life of luxury isn’t anything new to Ria.
What’s the show about?
The show is an experiment on social mobility and offers an exploration of prevalent themes such as privilege, class, and talent.
The show sees the teenage kids of some of the UK’s most successful self-made celebs put in the position of what could have been their alternate realities.
Each child will spend a week living the life they would have had if their parent hadn’t become successful.
Jack will go back to his father’s roots in Bretch Hill, Oxfordshire.
While Phoenix will spend time in her mother’s birthplace Leeds.
Bethany will travel to Glasgow’s East End.
And Ria will be setting up home in Dagenham, Essex.
Channel 4 commissioner Emily Jones said: “There is a myth that talent will out whatever the circumstances.
“Using extraordinary access so some of our most successful celebrities, Born Famous is a novel way to explore the degree to which we’re all in denial about how hard it is to be young today.”
