Montreal Impact sign Bojan Krkic following forward’s departure from Stoke by mutual consent

  • Montreal Impact have completed the signing of forward Bojan Krkic 
  • Bojan was a free agent having left Stoke City by mutual consent this week
  • The 28-year-old was praised by Montreal Impact head coach Remi Garde 

Montreal Impact signed Spanish free agent forward Bojan Krkic on a deal through to the end of the 2020 season on Wednesday.

Bojan, 28, who broke through at Barcelona as a teenager, left Stoke City by mutual consent on Tuesday.

‘Bojan is a very talented player who… chose the Impact to pursue his career, after having played for some of the biggest clubs in the world,’ Montreal head coach Remi Garde said in a club statement.

‘His offensive ability to get others involved in the game and to score goals will be of precious help for the final stretch of the season. I welcome him to our club.’

Bojan made his first-team debut for Barcelona in 2007 at the age of 17 years and 19 days, breaking Lionel Messi’s team record for youngest player to feature in a La Liga match.

He spent four seasons with the Barcelona first-team, scoring 41 goals in 162 games before he was sold to Roma in 2011. 

His other European stops before joining Stoke City in 2014 included loans with Milan and Ajax.
