David Luiz is delighted to have two Arsenal players in particular on his side after sealing his transfer deadline day move from Chelsea .

Brazil centre-back Luiz forced an exit from Chelsea to join rivals Arsenal in a dramatic £8million deadline day switch.

And the 32-year-old is happy he won’t have to face his new Arsenal team-mates Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang or Alexandre Lacazette in the Premier League this season.

And asked which Gunners players had given him nightmares during his two spells at Chelsea, Luiz said: “It has to be the strikers!

“It was always this openings I had to try to stop. I’m happy now that I can have Lacazette and Aubameyang on my side, so it’s much easier now!”

Luiz joined Arsenal on a dramatic transfer deadline day which also saw the Gunners finally sign Kieran Tierney after the left-back completed a £25m move from Celtic.

In a transfer window which was expected to be diffcult for Arsenal after they failed to qualify for the Champions League, boss Unai Emery also secured teenage Brazilian forward Gabriel Martinelli, midfielder Dani Ceballos on loan from Real Madrid , defender William Saliba from Saint-Etienne for £27m, and forward Nicolas Pepe from Lille for £72m.

Luiz told www.arsenal.com: “I think it’s a great squad with a lot of quality and I just hope me, Dani Ceballos and Pepe can give a lot for this squad, for this club, to improve and to help everybody.”

The defender said Arsenal boss Emery had played a big part in his decision to join the Gunners, and reckons he can help the club win trophies this season.

Luiz said: “I know him, I know some people from the club. I know Edu, I know Raul, I know the quality of the team, the players, and that’s what makes me excited to dream, to have the ambition to win big things.

“I think all my life, I’ve always started the season with the goal to win things. It’s not going to be different here – I’m going to come with this mentality because this is what made me move here.

“This is what makes me feel good every single day. I have to run for one reason, for one goal, and my goal is to win things with Arsenal.”
