Romelu Lukaku training with Anderlecht for second day as striker does not return to Manchester United with rest of squad

Romelu Lukaku continues to train with Anderlecht as he awaits a move away from Manchester United.

Much uncertainty still surrounds the future of the Belgium striker whose career is in limbo ahead of transfer deadline day on Thursday.

The 26-year-old wants a move away from Old Trafford with Serie A his preferred destination.

Advanced talks had taken place with Juventus over a swap deal involving Paulo Dybala.

Reports suggest United pulled out of the deal because of Dybala’s lack of desire to play for the club and his excessive wage demands.

Inter are also interested but the £75million price tag appears to be a stumbling block.

Lukaku has not played any pre-season matches for United, while he also had a slight injury he was recovering from.

It is believed he has been training separately from the first team squad.

He was pictured training at Anderlecht on Monday, who are managed by his friend Vincent Kompany.

United’s players had the day off but it appears the striker wanted to get an extra training session in with the Belgium club.

The Manchester Evening News reported the players were due back on Tuesday.

Journalist Kristof Terreur tweeted a picture of Lukaku still training with Anderlecht.

The Belgium international is believed to have trained with the club’s under-18s on Monday where he ‘coached and encouraged them’.

United, meanwhile, have been linked with a stunning move for Philippe Coutinho.

As talkSPORT understands it, the Barcelona playmaker will be allowed to leave and prefers a move to the Premier League where Tottenham, Arsenal and Liverpool are also keen.
