LADY C will be the oldest contestant to appear in the latest run of E4’s Celebs Go Dating.
She’s starred in plenty of shows over the years such as I’m a Celebrity, but now she’s looking for love – will she find it on reality TV? Here’s everything you need to know about the controversial star.
Who is Lady Colin Campbell?
Born in Jamaica on August 17, 1949, an anomaly meant that Lady C’s parents assumed she was male and she was raised as a boy.
After struggling to get her parents to accept that she was, in fact, a girl, she moved to New York to study fashion, having corrective surgery at the age of 21.
By her own admission Lady C was desperate to get married and when she met British aristocrat Lord Colin Campbell in 1974, she married him after just five days.
The marriage was short-lived and they divorced in 1975 after just nine months together.
In 1993 Lady C adopted two Russian boys, Misha and Dima.
She enjoyed a new found fame when she took part in I’m a Celebrity 2015.
What is her net worth?
Lady Colin Campbell is believed to be worth $9 million (£7.4 million), according to Puzzups.
This isn’t all that surprising when considering the number of television appearances she’s done over the years.
While we’re not exactly sure how much Lady Colin would charge as her fee, given that she’s so entertaining, it’ll probably be a fairly high number.
When is Lady C taking part in Celebs Go Dating?
In May 2019, The Sun exclusively revealed that Lady C has signed up to take part in Celebs Go Dating.
She will join the star dating agency for series 7.
The show will premiere on August 5, and star the likes of Blue’s Lee Ryan and TOWIE’s Chloe Sims.
When did Lady Colin Campbell date Larry Lamb?
She says they split after about six months when things started to get serious between them – and revealed on Loose Women that he was “a superb all rounder” in the bedroom and that he was a “very naughty boy”.
Explaining their meeting she said; “We met at the opening of the Ritz casino and he saw me across the room…as soon as I caught his eye, he caught mine more accurately, he came over and didn’t let go.”
Larry was said to have thoroughly enjoyed watching his ex on the show.
What has Lady C said about Meghan Markle?
In April 2019, Lady C claimed Meghan Markle is “disturbingly self-confident” and has ‘discomforting parallels’ with her late friend Princess Diana.
Speaking to the Independent, she said they were “both bright, ambitious, canny women who have known how to play the game”.
However, she added of the differences: “Meghan is much better educated and more academic. Meghan is almost disturbingly self-confident. We must hope she realises that her vision is not the only vision.”
Lady Colin also said that Diana suffered from “insecurities” and warned Meghan about falling into any of the same traps.
She explained: “We must hope that Meghan has no psychological instability – as Diana had – and won’t hit the buffers at any point, as Diana did.”
The royal author also advised that Meghan should avoid becoming a “political activist” as the “royals must represent all of the people” and she should know when “keep her mouth shut”.
Lady Colin added: “There are many conservative people, all over the world, many religious people, who do not have these ‘woke’ and ‘right-on’ views.”
What has Lady C appeared in since I’m A Celeb 2015?
The year after her I’m A Celebrity appearance proved a productive one for Lady C as she showed up on a number of shows – bagging a guest presenting slot on Loose Women and joining the Good Morning Britain team for a chat on their sofas.
She even allowed documentary crews into her crumbling mansion to document her renovation plans with her one off documentary Lady C and the Castle that aired in September.
Viewers watched her transform the ruined 18th-century Castle Goring in Sussex to become home fit for a lady – with the star also expressing ambitions for the building to be a wedding venue.
Why was Lady C taken to court for a car accident?
Lady C stood trial on February 23, 2017, after causing a pile-up.
The TV star collided with an Audi and a Ford Focus in May 2016 while the royal biographer had been in her Audi A6 with son Dima and her dog.
No one was injured, but cops had to close the A27, near Worthing, West Sussex, and The Sun revealed shocking photos of the aftermath.
Lady C, from Clapham, West Sussex, was convicted of driving without due care and attention by Brighton magistrates.
Why is she called Lady C?
Despite the divorce, Lady Colin Campbell retained her married name.
She later explained that she did so in order to annoy Lord Colin’s elder brother, the Duke of Argyll, whom she suspected of plotting against her.
Her full name was shortened to Lady C when she took part in I’m A Celebrity.
