Harry Maguire’s mum has revealed her pride at her son completing a world-record £80million transfer to Manchester United.
Maguire put pen to paper on a six-year deal with the Red Devils to become the most expensive defender off all time.
His mum Zoe took to Twitter shortly after the announcement to reveal her delight and admit it’s always been her son’s dream to pull on the Man United shirt.
Alongside a picture of a young Maguire and one of him in a Red Devils’ kit, Zoe wrote: “When your son dreams of playing for Man United as a little boy and you wake up one morning and it’s happening. Dreams can come true. So proud of you.”
Maguire was equally proud of his achievement after signing with United.
The England international said: “It’s a really proud moment for myself to join such a big club.
“You always dream of walking out at Wembley and Old Trafford they’re the two big stadiums when you’re a kid.
“An amazing club, it’s a club I always watched and looked up to when I was younger. Now I’m part of it. The atmosphere in the stadium itself is so unique and something so special.”
Maguire also took to Twitter like his mum, where he added: “Thanks to everyone who has supported me and played a part in my career.
“I’m proud and honoured to join Man United. What an incredible football journey it’s been so far.”
