He went on to appear in over 1,000 episodes over three separate stints with the most recent coming between July and September 2016.

Viewer believe now is the perfect time for him to return to the hit soap and avenge his brother, who was whacked over the head with a spanner by Stacey Slater.

One fan begged on Twitter: “EastEnders please bring grant back to get Stacey Phil’s attacker have the Mitchell’s vs the slaters grant to kill Stacey off make it happen Stacey a Murderer”

Another vowed: “Phil and Grant will arrive soon! #Eastenders probably in a few days, maybe next week”

One more wrote: “NEXT TIME on #Eastenders, Grant Mitchell Avenges Phil Mitchell “

But Phil’s had a far from smooth relationship with his younger sibling.

The Arches boss was hospitalised after being beaten up by Grant, which left him with a blood clot on the brain, after finding out he had an affair with Sharon Mitchell.

A few years later the brothers crashed in to the River Thames after fleeing an armed robbery together.

In recent years, Ross has made a name for himself with his award-winning Ross Kemp on Gangs documentary series.

Phil was left for dead after he threatened to harm Kat’s son Tommy, forcing her to follow him to the garage to have it out with him – and warning him not to threaten her boys.

But as Martin spotted the row and followed, he found Phil screaming abuse at Kat: “People like you think I’ve changed, people like you think I’m slowing down but I ain’t.”

Martin waded in and warned Phil to get his hands off Kat, which is when Phil turned his rage towards Martin.

Phil brutally began to beat Martin before holding a metal bar across his throat as Martin struggled to breathe.

“Tell me that again,” he shouted as he choked Martin with Kat screaming him to let him go.

But then Stacey appeared, smashing Phil over the head with a spanner and knocking him into the car pit of the garage.

Phil lay bleeding from his head and alone in the filthy pit as Stacey, Martin and Kat panicked over what had just happened.

Meanwhile, Ross is busy working on his new ITV series, Living With… which is a brand new four-part documentary which sees him travelling across the country to meet people living with some of the biggest issues affecting Britain.
