LOVE Island’s Molly-Mae Hague is in therapy as she struggles to cope with cruel trolls since leaving the villa.
The influencer, who finished as a runner up on the show with Tommy Fury – returned to social media for the first time in six days yesterday amid concerns they had split.
Now, The Sun Online can reveal that the break was intentional as she has been advised to abstain from social media while she tries to deal with getting online abuse.
Her social media silence was in stark contrast to her life pre villa, where she posted regularly and received nothing but positive comments from her legion of loyal followers.
An insider said: “It’s been really difficult for Molly-Mae since leaving the show.
“She’s always had a really positive experience online but has been cruelly targeted since going on Love Island.
“It’s been incredibly upsetting for her and she’s really struggled to understand why it’s happened to her.
“She decided to take up the offer of therapy to try and get her head around it all and hopefully get back to her old self soon.
“All the Islanders are offered it but everyone has been particularly worried about her since the show and have insisted she get some help to cope with it all.
“She was also advised to take a break from being online, which she has taken onboard.”
They added: “Out of everyone on the show Molly-Mae has struggled the most, which is both surprising and upsetting considering she was always an influencer.
“It’s been a worrying situation for everyone.”
During her time on the show Molly-Mae was nicknamed “Money-Mae” by followers who accused her of “fake crying to win the £50,000 cash prize”.
Throughout the series she came under fire numerous times from viewers who are convinced she’s pretending to like boyfriend Tommy Fury in order to get to the final of the show.
She was later accused of being two-faced by her fellow Islander Belle Hassan after being Molly voted her out.
She hit back at accusations saying “It is a shame but Tommy and I can hopefully speak to Anton and Belle when we get out and chat about it.
“No tactics were used at all. Absolutely none. People are entitled to their opinions. We had to pick a couple. It was hard.”
During last night’s Love Island Reunion show she had an incredibly awkward exchange with Anton Danyluk who shocked viewers by insisting they had never been friends.
