The Gunners lost the Emirates Cup on home soil last weekend with Lyon winning 2-1.

Unai Emery’s side, fresh from signing Nicolas Pepe for a club record £72m, will now want to end pre-season schedule on a high going into their Premier League opener at Newcastle.

The Joan Gamper Trophy is Barca’s annual club-friendly held each year since 1966 – they beat Boca Juniors 3-0 in the match last season.


Barcelona vs Arsenal: Date and kick off time

The Joan Gamper Trophy clash will take place on Sunday, August 4 and will kick off at 7pm UK time – that’s 8pm in Spain.

The match will be held at Barcelona’s 99,000-seater Nou Camp.

Barca kick off their LaLiga season with a trip to Athletic Bilbao on Friday, August 16.

The showpiece pre-season match will be shown live on Premier Sports 1, with coverage underway from 6.55pm.

Arsenal fans could catch a first glimpse of new signing Pepe following his big-money move.

The Gunners will be missing Rob Holding and Hector Bellerin, while Alexandre Lacazette will likely be rested after picking up a knock against Lyon.

Barcelona are only missing Gerard Pique from their squad.

Summer signings Antoine Griezmann and Frenkie de Jong should both start for the Spanish giants.
