TORRES THIS SEASON
Appearances: 37 – (19 as substitute)
Arsenal’s failure to qualify for the Champions League will limit boss Unai Emery’s summer transfer budget before player sales and force the Gunners to consider cheaper alternatives.
The north Londoners had been planning a move for Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha, valued at £80m by his club.
But Palace’s price tag and Arsenal’s lack of Champions League football is set to put him out of reach and along with Bournemouth’s Ryan Fraser, the speedy and skilful Torres is among the other options on Arsenal’s radar.
Arsenal had been planning to sign Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha, but failure to secure Champions League football will limit their summer spending
Valencia sources believe the Spain under-19 international, whose current deal expires in 2021, could be prised away for around £25m if a future sell-on clause is included in any deal.
Leicester, meanwhile, are set to spend big this summer and view Torres as an exciting potential addition to Brendan Rodgers’ already promising and predominantly young squad.
La Liga runners-up Atletico Madrid want Torres too while he has also been watched by Borussia Dortmund.
