ANT McPartlin was accidentally snubbed by magician John Archer during last night’s Britain’s Got Talent semi-final, with the contestant blanking the Geordie host live on stage.

The 43-year-old presenter was left red-faced when John refused to shake his hand as he tried to commiserate the act for failing to get through to Sunday night’s final.

John found himself in the top three after last night’s show alongside comic Kojo Anim, with the judges choosing to send Kojo through to the finale.

Ant offered his condolences to the hopeful, saying: “We love you, we’ve all loved you here, they all loved, you give it up for John Archer everybody.”

He then held out his hand to shake but John appeared not to notice as he stared out at the cheering audience.

Ant tapped John in a bid to get his attention – only to be snubbed for a second time.

Needless to say, eagle-eyed viewers found the mishap hilarious, with many admitting that they were cringing on the star’s behalf.

Taking to Twitter, one fan wrote: “Oh Ant. Left hanging live on stage.”

Another added: “The most awkward thing I’ve seen on TV is Ant trying to shake John’s hand.”

A third said: “ANT GOT HIS HANDSHAKE IGNORED I’M SCREAMING”.

Earlier in the evening, John had a second awkward encounter with the BGT hosts, snapping at Declan Donnelly when he accidentally interrupted the act’s speech.

After his performance, John said: “It’s amazing. To be honest I’ve peaked now. This is the best moment I’ve ever had in my career.

“If I don’t get any further I’m happy.”

He then paused while the audience applauded, and when Dec started to talk the hopeful sniped: “Hang on, I’m not finished.”

He continued: “Having said that it would still be great if you vote for me.”

Singer Colin Thackery won last night’s semi-final and will appear in the finale alongside Kojo and the other finalists, with John still eligible to win the wildcard slot.
