Arsenal have turned their attentions to an unlikely source in their bid to rebuild on a budget this summer.

Manager Unai Emery is set to have to work under tight financial restraints in his bid to strengthen his squad after missing out on Champions League football.

But after their Europa League final defeat, it is clear reinforcements are needed – and a trio of midfielders from Argentina are now said to be on Emery’s wishlist.

According to TNT Sports , the Gunners are interested in Boca Juniors pair Nahitan Nandez and Emanuel Reynoso, as well as River Plate star Exequiel Palacios.

Although no formal offers have been registered, the Gunners are reportedly monitoring the trio as potential replacements for outgoing Aaron Ramsey in midfield.

Palacios, 20, is already an Argentina international and has been heavily linked with Real Madrid in the past, although he has made headlines for his off-field antics in the past.

Reynoso, 23, only joined Boca Juniors from Talleres de Cordoba last year but has made a serious impression as he helped them reach the Copa Libertadores final last year.

He was a vital member of Uruguay’s World Cup side last summer, playing every game, and the combative player could now get his Premier League chance, linking up with international team-mate Lucas Torreira.

Representatives of Palacios have recently admitted Premier League interest, believed to be from Arsenal , and it seems he could be followed by rivals from Boca Juniors.

Arsenal boss Unai Emery is ready to offload big-name stars to loosen his purse strings and allow him to bring in more players to refresh his squad this summer.

The Gunners missed out on the Premier League top four before their 4-1 thrashing against Chelsea in the Europa League final in Baku on Wednesday night.
