An Alberta Securities Commission panel will hear allegations in a case against a company that claims to have a product that makes electronics work better.

The ASC has issued a notice of hearing against Edmonton-based Imagine Research and Technology Inc., as well as the company’s CEO Doug Whyte and chief financial officer Brian Jones.

The regulator alleges that between 2013 and 2018, Imagine raised about $1.5 million from investors for the development of a product to improve the functionality of electronic circuits. It is alleged that the company and its principals Whyte and Jones misled investors about anticipated sales, profitability and share value and also raised funds in reliance on particular prospectus exemptions which a number of investors were not qualified for.

The ASC issued an interim cease trade order against the company and Whyte and Jones on April 4, 2018. An appearance to set a date for a hearing will be held on July 25 in Calgary.
