College Sports: Another transfer! UNLV’s Joel Ntambwe commits to Texas Tech

Texas Tech continues to add to its 2019 recruiting class via the transfer pool.

CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein first reported on Sunday that UNLV forward Joel Ntambwe has committed to Texas Tech. Ntambwe soon confirmed his decision on Twitter.

Ntambwe joins Virginia Tech guard Chris Clarke and Stephen F. Austin forward TJ Holyfield as the third transfer recruit in Texas Tech’s 2019 recruiting class. According to 247Sports, Texas Tech has the No. 1 recruiting class in the Big 12 and the 15th-best in the nation. 

In his freshman season with UNLV, the 6-foot-9, 210-pound Ntambwe averaged 11.8 points and 5.5 rebounds in 24 minutes per game. 

Ntambwe hails from Kinshasa of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, but played high school basketball in the U.S. 

During his senior season at Aspire Academy in Louisville, Kentucky, Ntambwe averaged 13.3 points on 48.3% shooting.
