Jose Mourinho reckons Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp would find it tough to deal with losing a third Champions League final.
German boss Klopp is preparing his Reds side for their European showdown with Premier League rivals Tottenham next Saturday.
That was the second time Klopp suffered a defeat in the final, with his Borussia Dortmund side losing out to Bayern Munich in the 2013 decider.
And Mourinho, who has won the competition twice as manager at Porto and Inter Milan, has delivered a warning to his former Premier League rival.
“If Jurgen wins it’s an incredible achievement for him,” Mourinho told Sky Sports .
“If Jurgen doesn’t win, you know… to lose three Champions League finals… that has to be really, really hard.
“But he is a very positive guy, I’m sure he’s just thinking about winning.
“Being a manager, and understanding what it means for a manager to play a Champions League final, there is always a negative side of it and the negative side is that one team will lose and one manager will lose.”
Klopp will go up against Spurs counterpart Mauricio Pochettino in Madrid, and Mourinho says the Argentine will be just as desperate to win silverware.
“Spurs are not winning titles and to win the first one would be fantastic and could lead to other domestic trophies because the Champions League is the biggest one of all,” added Mourinho.
“Finals are not to play, finals are to win.”
