The Christchurch mosque attacker has formally been charged with terrorism, in addition to 51 charges of murder, New Zealand police have said.
Brenton Tarrant was charged with “engaging in a terrorist act”, police said in a statement on Tuesday.
He killed 51 people and injured dozens more during an attack on two mosques in the city on 15 March.
The Australian is next due in court in June.
